Who doesn’t love a nice relaxing soak in a hot tub full of therapeutic jets and warm water? I know I do. There is no better feeling than climbing into the warm bubbly water after a long day. Did you know that your hot tub has health benefits beyond relaxation?
Having access to a hot tub is very beneficial to your health. They are a great way to recover from injuries and help relieve muscle pain, tension, and headaches. Water immersion is a well-known health benefit; owning a hot tub gives you an added edge in staying healthy and fit.
Hot tub hydrotherapy is when water is used to ease pain and promote a healthy body and mind. Putting your body into the water and allowing jets to pulsate and massage your neck, back, joints, and more pushes your body to circulate blood faster and promotes healing, making you feel rejuvenated. Muscle tension can be taken away, aches and pains, plus the added benefit of clearing your mind while taking it all in.
Most people think of hot tubs and swimming pools as places to have fun and hang out with friends. Yes, that is one of the many things you can use them for, but they are also one of the most useful ways to get in shape, recover from an injury/surgery, improve joint movement, and many more.
All of these health benefits are reason alone to want to make dipping into a hot tub part of your daily routine.
There are many ways to get active and participate in beneficial activities that promote your health through hydrotherapy. One of my favorite activities is soaking in the hot tub a few times a week to unwind, destress, and let go of my tension. It is so comfortable, inviting, and soothing. You will not be disappointed if you decide to give hydrotherapy a try.
Your health should be one of your top priorities; this is an easy way to keep your body and mind in a good place.
You will see and feel hydrotherapy's amazing, refreshing results after a few sessions. Any one of the above methods will give you a rejuvenated feeling.
A hot tub is a fun place to be, but before starting a hydrotherapy routine, you should talk to your doctor just to be sure you don’t have any health conditions or take any medications that would have unhealthy side effects from the hot temperature.
Always make sure the handrails on your hot tub are secure, and there is a first aid kit nearby in case anything happens. There should also be non-skid steps to get in and out of the hot tub. Too often, accidents happen when a person is getting in or out of the hot tub.
Hydrotherapy can be in cold water or hot water. Depending on what type of treatment you are receiving, the water flow and pressure of the jets will vary. Your doctor or physical therapist will work with you on the type of exercises that will work best to help you with your specific situation. During hydrotherapy, your body will enjoy muscle relaxation, the relief from any pain you are feeling, and help clear your mind.
While sitting in my hot tub is a very enjoyable experience, I know my limit and never stay in longer than 30 minutes. In some cases, you could stay in for up to 45 minutes if the temperature isn’t set too hot.
If you get out after 15 to 30 minutes, you can always hop back in later. Be careful not to extend a hot water soak over the 30-minute limit. Staying in for too long can cause dehydration and other health issues.
Hydrotherapy is, in my opinion, one of the most enjoyable ways to help me feel my best. Being able to relax and unwind is such a great feeling. Letting the massaging jets take away my muscle tension along with minor aches and pains allows me to feel refreshed and clear my mind.
